Club Service functions through several committees which are listed below. If you have an interest in serving on one or more of these important committees, please be in touch with Walter Cole, the committee chairperson or a member of the committee.

Web Page – Gordon Irwin is the chairperson. Gordon has done a terrific job in establishing our Maryville Rotary web site. The site is easy to use. Gordon needs information from all of us to put on the web site. Most clubs agree that a great web site is important to attracting new members and keeping the interest of existing members. Please give Gordon some information for our site. Gordon’s e-mail address is fgirwin@gmail.com

Bulletin – Walter Cole is going to give it shot, but if you are interested in doing this, just let Walter know. Like Gordon, Walter needs information from you for the bulletin. The bulletin will be presented on the Club’s web site and sent to each member's e-mail address. Walter’s e-mail address is wcolejr@charter.net

Facilities – Virginia Hardwick is the chairperson. This committee deals with our meeting place and accommodations. Virginia’s e-mail address is virginia.hardwick@employbridge.net

Fellowship – Kenneth Gates is the chairperson. Fellowship is an important part of every meeting of our Maryville Rotary Club. Fellowship can be something to make us laugh a little, entertain us, or educate us. It is also the source of  “happy dollars” which go to support our Club. If you have something to be happy about or to share just give a dollar (or more) and tell the club about it. If you have interest in presenting a fellowship program just let Kenneth know.

Greeters – Bernie Bowman is the chairperson. Greeters get us all off to a good start with a welcome to Maryville Rotary. Greeters greet everyone before each meeting. Greeting is a good thing for newer members to do so they can get to meet everyone. Greeters make our members and guests feel welcome. If you would like to be a greeter let Bernie know and if Bernie asks you to be a greeter, just do it. Bernie’s e-mail address is bbowman@asburyplace.org

Programs – Sandra Davis is the chairperson. The programs committee is in charge of arranging speakers for most all of our Club’s meetings. One member is asked to agree to arrange for speakers for one month during the Rotary year. Programs are an important aspect of our Club’s meetings. Interesting and informative speakers are a vital part of keeping members interested in attending meetings. If you would like to arrange for speakers for a month or if you know of someone who would make a good speaker for even one meeting let Sandra know and we may be able to work that speaker into one of the programs. Sandra’s e-mail address is sdavis@unitedwayblount.org

Public Relations This committee is made up of Scott Gray (chairperson), Kara Covington, and Don Moore. Good positive public relations are vital to recognition for our Club in the Community. Public relations inform communities that Rotary and Maryville Rotary are credible organizations that meet real needs. When Maryville Rotary has a positive public image current members are motivated to be active and prospective members are eager to join. The public relations committee develops a plan to provide the public with information about Rotary and Maryville Rotary and promotes our Club’s service projects and activities. The public relations committee should work with the entire Club and all of the committees to establish good and positive public relations. If you are interested in working with this committee or you have ideas to improve our Club’s public relations let Scott know. Scott’s e-mail address is scott.gray@remax.net

Member Moment – Carol LaRue is the chairperson. The member moment gives each member an opportunity to tell the club about him or herself. A member is asked to speak at an agreed upon meeting for just about three minutes. During this time the member tells about his or her background, education, home town, family, interest in Rotary, favorite hobbies, books, movies and really anything that member might like to share with the Club. This gives every member of our Club a chance to get to know just a little more about that member. The member moment is not done every year, but after a couple of years break, this is a year to share this time again. When you are asked to do your “Member Moment” please participate so we can get to know you better. Carol’s e-mail address is caroljlarue@yahoo.com

Rotary Moment – Glenn Slater does this very special and inspiring presentation at many of our meetings. Glenn presents something, usually from Paul Harris, and relates this to our life in Rotary. It is very meaningful to hear what Paul Harris had to say about Rotary many years ago and how those thoughts apply to us today. Glenn’s insights into this special time truly are wonderful and Glenn is a very special Rotarian to do this for our Club. Let Glenn know how much you appreciate what he does.
