Goals 2007-2008

President / President-Elect’s Goals: Dave Straquadine & David Gill

  1. Support RI’s theme and priorities for the year.

  2. Achieve Presidential Citation.

  3. Support and assist District Governor Robin Textor.

  4. Encourage club officers and chairs to attend District meetings, events, seminars and District Assembly.

  5. Provide assistance and support to those members involved at the District level.

  6. Have at least 10 members attend the District Conference.

  7. Increase members’ understanding of District 6780

  8. Utilize the District resources for funding, information and ideas.

  9. Achieve District Governor’s Club of Distinction Award and District Awards of Excellence.

  10. Keep members more informed, involved and active in club activities and decision making.

  11. Support each Board member with fulfilling their responsibilities.

  12. Keep and update the History of Maryville Rotary Club. Enlist help of club in obtaining news articles, stories, photos and memorabilia about our club and it’s members.

  13. Implement the membership committee’s recruitment and retention plan.

  14. Realize a net increase of 5 members by year’s end.

  15. Maintain an 80% attendance rate.

  16. Conduct club assemblies once per quarter

  17. Institute a new fundraising event to benefit a community need related to water, health or hunger.

  18. Hold a successful auction with Alcoa Rotary

  19. Encourage the hosting of Rotary fellowship outside of the club meetings.

  20. Identify and initiate various ways to increase Rotary fellowship and fun.

Club Service Goals: Walter Cole

  1. Facilitate meetings that are informative, productive and foster the object of Rotary.

  2. Arrange for interesting and entertaining programs, weekly greeters, fellowship and other components that encourage attendance and participation in meetings.

  3. Ensure facilities are conducive to effective meetings.

  4. Incorporate ways for guests, visitors and prospective members to be welcomed and recognized.

  5. Enhance internal communications via web page and bulletin. Encourage members to give regular updates to community events and Rotary news.

  6. Continue with implementation of an External Communication & PR Plan that assures consistent exposure of regular club activities and other events as they occur.

Community Service Goals: Jeff Eberting

  1. Continue and increase support and involvement with Adopt-a-School. Perform quarterly needs assessment with contacts at Walland Elementary. Form committee to look at school’s needs and enlist club support in seeing that they are met.

  2. Participate in Adopt-A-Highway at least three times or as needed.

  3. Continue participation in the Dictionary Project. Including continuing and expanding the Chili Cook-off.

  4. Provide a team to compete in the BCLS annual spelling bee.

  5. Continue to support United Way with a financial contribution and other means.

  6. Select and award 4 high school seniors with Charles Harvey Academic Scholarships.

  7. Continue “Student of the Month” recognitions

  8. Identify and engage in at least two new fundraising and/or service projects to address specific community needs.

  9. Assist BCLC in addressing adult education in Blount County.

  10. Host again a fundraising breakfast or other event for BCLC.

  11. Contribute to the Imagination Library.

International Service Goals: Dana West

  1. Conduct a world community service project with another club.

  2. Continue to serve as a hub for GSE by hosting the next team.

  3. Continue in our support of out International Exchange Student. Begin process for obtaining another student next Rotary year.

  4. Attain STAR club status with aim of achieving highest per capita gifts to Rotary Foundation.

  5. Continue to support Polio Plus financially and in other ways.

  6. Nominate a candidate for the Ambassadorial Scholarship.

Vocational Service Goals: Margaret Butler

  1. Select and award one high school senior the Wolff and Coulter scholarship.

  2. Select and finance 5 RYLA participants.

  3. Continue the Retired Teachers Tribute.

  4. Present the “4 Way Test” to some group, profession or community organization.

  5. Continue the “Service Above Self / Honorary Rotarian” award

Past President Goals: Bob Lash

  1. Work with Secretary and Treasurer to insure President and President-Elect stay out of trouble.

  2. Organize the Membership Drive Team Winners luncheon.

  3. Continue in the tradition of lightening things up with humor, stories and the nicknames.
