Roxy is our 2008-09 exchange student from Norway

Always Studying!
Roxy Attending Heritage High School and Learning about East Tennessee
and the US
Ragnhild (Roxy), our 2008-09 exchange student from
Norway, is attending Heritage High School. She is taking a full course
load for seniors. She is also playing on the varsity volleyball
team. Since her arrival on July 2, Roxy has been to Blue
Mountain Beach in Florida with the Lash family, hiked to Little
Greenbriar School and the Walker Sisters cabin, seen several movies,
saw the Beatles tribute group 1964, met Coach Bruce Pearl, attended a
Smokies’ baseball game, experienced Dollywood with the Hankes family,
attended an American wedding, and partaken of all kinds of American
cuisine from a seafood boil to peanut butter and “nanner” sandwiches.

Attends District Exchange Student Retreat at Cumberland Mountain State
Park
Recently Roxy attended the district
exchange student retreat at Cumberland Mountain State Park. She met the
other exchange students and their host families. She said the
experience was awesome, especially water skiing and the biscuits and
jelly. She became fast friends with the student from Finland, Kaisen,
who is hosted by the Seymour club. The “Scandinavian Connection” has
already planned all sorts of mischief together during this exchange
year.
Roxy's
Plans for the Year
Roxy is planning on participating in
both the Eastern and Western United States trips with other Rotary
exchange students this March and June. For the spring semester at
Heritage, she plans on being part of ROTC and giving rugby a try. When
she returns home she will have one more year of high school and then
she will join the military where she wants to fly jets and complete
college.

Coming Rotary Presentation
When things become a bit more settled
and a routine established, Roxy will do a presentation about her
country, family, and herself for our club.

center, our 2008-09 exchange student from Norway upon her arrival at McGhee-Tyson on July 2.
